Our Story

Bellatino’s is a diverse Food Lovers Market that showcases the best of New Zealand's fresh produce, fine wines and artisan food. 

I’m Larni, and I’ve always loved food – both the bounty that can be found within New Zealand and the breadth of what can be sourced from other regions and across the globe.  I’m Hawke’s Bay born, with a long career in hospitality, so when the opportunity to return to the Bay and start a business with my partner Phil Means came up, it felt like a perfect fit.

Our two stores are located in Havelock North village and just off the main highway in Bay View. We love our customers – both the regulars we see each day and the visitors who pop in to experience our range. We are especially proud to support our excellent local food producers, and we also stock a large range of hard-to-find, top quality Italian and imported food and wines.

 Each day, at both locations, we serve up fresh salads, sandwiches and other kitchen delights made on-site by our talented chef.  There’s a casual seating area for shoppers to relax in, and we invite you to enjoy a locally roasted Hawthorne coffee and our selection of delicious food. We’re always mindful of your dietary requirements, so you’ll find many plant-based, gluten-free, refined sugar-free and dairy-free options at Bellatino’s, both on the shelves and in the cabinet.

 If you are unable to join us in beautiful Hawke’s Bay, then we invite you to "shop our shelves" for a bespoke gift hamper. These hampers are the perfect selection of delights from the Hawke’s Bay region that can be beautifully packed and shipped anywhere across New Zealand.
